- HYPERREZ (3-button Logi-)Mouse Driver. 2/11/1989
- ======================================
-
- Neil has clearly stated his aversion to mice in the PC HyperText environment
- and feels that most users would not want to use them. There are, however,
- those who enjoy the feeling of constantly touching a comforting object ....
- wine-glass at dinner, mouse at the keyboard, etc. The present program
- should satisfy such psycho-physical needs, and possibly even provide some
- hyper-people with the means for faster - longer - and farther HYPER - jumps:
-
- The program was written for a 3-button Logi-Mouse, and I have no idea if and
- how it works with any other rodent.
-
- MOUSE MOTIONS:
-
- Up / Down - jump to previous / next <topic> and highlight it,
- Left / Right - scroll line backwards / forwards.
-
- The up/down motion works quite smoothly if there are not too many angle
- brackets on the screen; with many brackets (e.g. <REF>) use left/right.
- Either motion direction can be used in lieu of PgUp and PgDn.
-
- BUTTONS:
-
- Left: return to previous jump, i.e. <---
- Right: make next jump, i.e. ---> or Enter
- Middle: leave Hyperrez, i.e. Esc
- L + M: go to first screen of file, i.e. Home
- M + R: go to last screen of file, i.e. End
- L + R: jump to START.TXT, i.e. Ctrl-Home
-
- The mouse menu was created in HR.DEF - this is in ASCII . NEWMENU.EXE
- was then used to produce HR.MNU (via command NEWMENU HR), which is then used
- to activate the mouse (via command MENU HR). The two numbers on the first
- line of HR.DEF determine the horizontal and the vertical sensitivity of the
- mouse movement.
-
- The mouse driver can be activated before or after activating Hyperrez.
- Activating it before will make it easier to unload Hyperrez, when no longer
- needed.
-
- USE: first activate the mouse (usually by MOUSE 1 or MOUSE 2), then
- MENU HR (unless you want to modify HR.DEF first and then produce
- a different HR.MNU via your NEWMENU.EXE).
-
-
-
- Please let me know if you find the mouse helpful or not. Personally, I am
- not too concerned about the mouse in the hyperTEXT part, but want the
- mouse in usage for graphical add-ons we are developing. The future graphics
- will, of course, have a more sophisticated driver.
